ووفقا لمصادر إيطالية، أدرجت إدارة روما دياوارا ضمن قائمة الفريق تحت سن 22 عاما، عن طريق الخطأ، ولم تدرجه ضمن قائمة الفريق الأول، التي تم تسليمها للاتحاد الإيطالي من قبل كل الفرق قبل انطلاق الموسم.
وبذلك اعتبر الاتحاد الإيطالي دياوارا غير مؤهل للمشاركة في افتتاحية الفريق بالدوري أمام فيرونا، الأمر الذي أدى لمعاقبة الفريق بسبب مشاركته.
