تروي الوالدة، في لقاء مع الصحفيين، أن قيس كان دائماً يوصيها بالصبر والثبات إذا وصلها خبر استشهاده.
وتضيف: دائماً كان يطلب مني الصبر ويخبرني عن مواقف أمهات الشهداء، مثل والدة الشهيد إبراهيم النابلسي، وغيرها.
وذكرت أن قيس كان يقول لها حين تظهر خوفها عليه: “يما انتي شايفة الاجتياحات والجرائم اللي بعملوها في الأقصى والشباب اللي بستشهدوا في جنين ونابلس”.
وتابعت: قلت له ماذا ستغير لوحدك في هذا الواقع؟ فرد علي: “أنا مش واحد ربنا معي”.
وتروي أن قيس قال لها قبل أيام من استشهاده: “يما ارضي علي واصبري اذا استشهدت”.
استشهد قيس الليلة الماضية قرب مخيم الجلزون، بعد تنفيذه عملية إطلاق نار، وكان قبل سنوات أصيب خلال مواجهات على المدخل الشمالي لمدينة البيرة واعتقل وهو مصاب.
